Medieval villages in the hinterland
The Rimini hinterland is rich in ancient mediaeval villages and more. Just a few kilometres from the city is the ancient Republic of San Marino. One of the smallest states in the world, this is a place worth visiting, especially for its historic centre, its many shops and its historic and unusual museums, such as the waxworks museum.
On the border with San Marino lies the historic village Verucchio, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy.
The small village has a medieval soul that culminates in the Malatesta castle perched on the hill.
